A commitment to health and safety excellence
At HBC, we are committed to continually improving the way we work, ensuring our sites remain safe and practical. We promote strong working practices and we strive to enhance the skills and knowledge of our workforce and supply chain, leading to safer and more efficient operations.
Our excellent health and safety performance is backed up by a strong safety culture with proactive leadership and robust systems in place. This is demonstrated by our results in the HSE Safety Climate Tool survey.
Our systems are audited and updated regularly, leading to us proudly achieving:
- ISO 45001 Certification (Occupational Health & Safety) approval
- RoSPA Gold Award for 16 consecutive years
- Results above the 95th percentile of construction industry respondents in HSE Safety Climate Tool
- Client feedback score over 9.0 out of 10 for our management of health and safety
- Continuous betterment of HSE-published Accident Incidence Rate (AIR)
We work closely with our supply chain partners to ensure their safety on our projects, including our Minimum Standards Guidance document which supports our detailed site induction process.
We also utilise an anonymous reporting and suggestion mechanism to promote improvements, with the input of our workforce.
Alongside health and safety, we also promote a number of wellbeing initiatives including a long-standing partnership with Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity which has included sponsorship, site visits, roundtable discussions and our colleagues taking trustee and regional chair positions at the charity.
We are also proud to partner with the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and consistently score higher than the national average for our projects, leading to multiple site awards.
